Welcome to the PechaKucha Calgary Crowdsourcing Tool
PechaKucha Nights have been devised with the aim of generating engaging and mind stirring chit-chat (Pecha-kucha is the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat" after all). Please help to keep the speakers and topics as interesting as possible by participating in programming these events.
Use can use this tool to suggest speakers, topics or other ideas that will make Calgary PKNs better. Please nominate yourself if you are interested in speaking or suggest somebody from the community that you think would love to speak.
PechaKucha Night Calgary #12: "Eureka" will take place on May 28, 2012 at Theatre Junction GRAND. We are currently seeking speaker nominations for future PechaKucha Nights as well as suggestions for future PechaKucha Night themes. Please contribute your ideas below.

Get Sheri-D Wilson to speak about being a community leader and powerful feminine presence. About self-expression through poetry and inspiring others with strength. Leading through example and being self-assured. She is so inspirational and could teach other women tons about the power of the feminine divine.

My name is Crystal McGrath and i am an owner of Boy&GurL Music, I teach voice and piano, I'm a writer and do lead vocals guitar and piano in the band Boy&GurL. Boy&GurL has released 2 albums, toured the world and have had 2 singles charting on the Canadian top 40 charts. I suggest you contact John Brown and Matthew North of Slow Home Studio to speak at your next event. Their website and "design school" is unique to Calgary, as it is a new way for homeowners to take control and look past the idea of homes as just a commodity. Their design workshops have really picked up steam, and their philosophies on design, sustainability and real estate is something the PechaKucha crowd would be interested ...more »

Eleven years ago an individual sparked the idea of asking his community of friends to invest their time and passion for helping others. This project provides generous food hampers to identified families over the Christmas season. It has grown to support approximately 60 families in the Calgary area.

I think it would be fantastic to bring in Rahim Sajan, the curator for TEDxCalgary. Engaging Calgarians in ideas worth spreading.
Communities flourish when venues are available for important conversations to be had. I would love to hear about how the TEDxCalgary team is trying to break barriers and introduce innovative thinking and ideas, and how these ideas spread within the fabric of Calgary Culture.

The exhibit of "what we were then, we are not now" will consist of a personal theater work where each audience member experiences the work in first person. A ticket leads to an audio download featuring the music of Play the Moment Calgary Collective, poetry curated by Jhayne Holmes and volunteer Calgary residents talking about the past. The audio also contains instructions for a walk around Calgary to experience the narrative in context and trigger discreetly placed projectors that play the "Memories of Calgary" assembled from the collection. I would love to see Jeff Dyer COO of The Mustard Seed speak at an upcoming PechaKucha. He is a beautiful writer from what I've seen of his blog and tweets and would provide an interesting 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
